Twice the Core - Twice as Nice

Yesterday PC Pro reported that IBM is releasing a dual core and a low wattage PPC 970 class set of chip (things that Apple fans thought would never see the light of day), but neither of them function at the magical 3GHz and the dual core chip is targeted at servers. Meanwhile Intel is pushing out dual core chips to the low end - Including Celeron (Register). Since Intel is no longer quoting speeds as part of the chip description, I can only guess that they are over 3Ghz. Apple's move may have had more to do with marketing and a change in direction for IBM. Technorati Tags: ,
